Stuck on Sticking with 3M

{sponsored post* + giveaway}

I’m not sure about you, but I’m a visual kind of girl and like to have things – important things and nice ones – right there in my face. On my walls, it’s likely that you’ll find a collection of cues – meal plans, phone numbers, to do lists, inspirational messages, photos, notes and more. It’s how I roll best, because if it’s in front of me, I’m forced to give it attention.

My reliance on ‘in-ya-face’ motivation is just one of the reasons why I was super keen to throw my hand up to partiticpate in the 3M Scotch Restickable campaign for a little sticky-beak at their range of adhesive tabs … but I had some other motivations too. Having been a longtime blu-tacker, the opportunity to trial an alternative adhesive without the lumpy bits or greasy residue was very appealing AND living in rental accommodation means picture hooks in walls = cranky landords. (Even if you rent from your parents, like we do, putty and touch up paint IS a such a pain!!)

When the package from 3M landed in my mailbox, I already had a few little projects planned and waiting ….

Project 1 – Wall Canvas

I was given this delightful little wall canvas for my birthday, isn’t it just so cute? I’ve mentioned already my need to avoid nail holes in walls and so 4 of the 1″x1″ Restickable Tabs was what it took to mount this flush on the wall. No fuss, no dramas and absolutely no worries moving it around a few times until I was happy with its place in my face. 3M promote that the adhesive is easily removed from surfaces with no residue and they’re right, I moved my sweet little friendship owl canvas at least 4 times without trace of it’s previous location. No marks, no flaked paint, no problems! Win!

Project 2 – Baby Girl’s Gallery

I shudder to think how many trees have been sacrificed in the name of art by Day Care Centres. I love how Baby Girl creates an abundance of colourful scribbles masterpieces yet there would be not enough walls in any house to display each and every masterpiece she brings home. Luckily, at age 3, she has a relatively short memory and the creation of her own gallery on display in a corner of the kitchen fulfils the need to have her work on proudly display until the next beautiful creation arrives home, crumpled in her bag. Once a piece is taken off viewing rotation, the adhesive can remain for displaying the next delightful canvas but easily moved if it’s a large piece of work. Too easy and if over time the sticky tab becomes a bit grubby and tacky, it can be washed, rinsed and air dried for use again and again. How good is that?

Project 3 –  A day in the office

I share a little home office nook with my 2 teen boys, they have one side of the space, and I guard the other. Room is limited and so I need to maximise every inch of floor and wall surface area to make to make my little working corner not only productive but creative and inspirational too. I work much better with things in front of me and so I have used the 3M Restickables to mark 2 distinct focus areas near me. Up on the wall directly in front of me as I work, I’ve hung a 2 week schedule to remind me of time management and it shows the recurring commitments and activities we have each and every week. Other ‘to-do’ activities are then pencilled in around this and as it is a document that comes down for modifying, goes back up, and comes down, repeat process etc, the Restickables are proving to be a hassle free way of keeping this planner secure yet easily accessible. I’ve even hung my USB drive on one of the tabs in order to avoid time wasted from misplacing it (again!!) and hunting. It’s working for me.

There are plenty of other uses for these adhesive tabs too. Already, I’m planning a vision wall where I’m going to display some more affirmations and positive images depicting the direction I’m wanting to take in my life. I love having things like this on display, don’t you? The kids too are always wanting to hang posters in their rooms and so it’s now goodbye to lumpy blue tack and the oily patches left behind …. ahhh the landlords will be pleased!!

The 3M Restickable range – in a variety of sizes and weight bearing strengths – is available in Officeworks and Bunnings stores nationally and with a RRP of $4.95  it presents great value when you consider that the product can be used time and time again with the stickiness restored after a quick wash and dry. Would you like to give decorating with Restickables a go too? What would you use it for?

Thought so, and luckily I have been given a second set to share. Good luck!

    That artwork gallery is very sweet. I avoid Blutac because of the marks it leaves, I’ll look out for this next time at Bunnings. I’m enjoying your site.

    Wow, what a fantastic idea. I’m always sticking little notes up to remind myself of things I have to do and Blutac is always a nightmare to get off. I’m certainly going to try these little stickers.

    That looks way impressive that it’s able to hold a canvas to the wall! And the fact that it is removable without leaving a mark sounds like a winner.

    Will definitely be keeping my eye out for this!
