Mum’s Peace of Mind – GIVEAWAY Belkin Baby WeMo

June 11, 2013

Bits and Pieces

Having a baby is a complicated business, isn’t it? Not only is the female body pushed to its limits getting that little tacker out of there, then comes many years of care and concern about that precious little one’s safety and well being. disclosure policy

Keeping baby (and toddler safe) is an absolute priority for parents and over my baby-having years, I eagerly tried many contraptions and devices all aimed at 1) baby safety and 2) mummy peace of mind. Both being equally important, if you ask me. Do you remember using any of these?

  • the floating baby bath thermometer to ensure wee little ones aren’t scalded in an over-warm bath
  • the 2 piece cushion thingy that made sure they rested flat on their back and could not roll over onto their tummy during sleep time
  • bottle and food warmers to help prepare meals that wouldn’t scorch
  • powerpoint covers and safety locks that kept little hands away from danger
  • car seats, cots, prams, strollers and rockers all which carried stickers of Australian Safety Standard Approval
  • breathing alert pad in the cot to emit an alarm if baby stopped breathing

Times have certainly changed though as “back in the day”, so my mother will have you know, taking baby for a safe car drive involved being tucked snugly into the cane bassinet to then be placed on the back seat or even parcel rack of the car. Imagine the uproar if that were to happen these days! Thank goodness for progress and also for the technology that has come with it!

I was first acquainted with Belkin’s WeMo Baby device at a trade display in March. I was very impressed (umm, ok, not *quite* impressed enough to have another baby at age 44!) and amazed at the peace of mind that this technology brings. In my books, said peace of mind is absolutely priceless and worth every cent of this gadget’s $99.95 price tag. I seriously wish this type of technology had been around, and this affordable, when I had my babes.

As my oven will not be baking any more buns, Belkin are kindly giving away a WeMo Baby monitor to one lucky Family Survival Coach reader. So, if you are a new or expecting parent who is also an iPhone devotee …. then this is a ripper competition for you!!!

For an app-savvy parent, the Belkin WeMo Baby will transform your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch into a fully fledged digital baby monitor, working with your existing home Wi-Fi network and router.

There’s no need to set up a separate device, just download the app, install and you can monitor bub from anywhere with an internet connection – either Wi-Fi or mobile.

Visual and audio indicators will keep a tab on bubs and you can even choose an upgrade to the app in order to receive Cry Notification SMS alerts. Technology is truly a wondrous thing, isn’t it?!

Fabulous gadget to watch over my little man! While Mamma’s outside using the watering can! No more fears, if he is ok, Belkin is watching :)

  2. Josefa @always Josefa Says:

No more babies at this factory either – but of all the things I have sold and given away – the baby monitor I still use! yep! Mr 6 and Mr 4 sleep in a bedroom that is literally the absolute other end of the house – even if they were screaming for help, I wouldn’t hear them – so we still have the baby monitor plugged in for peace of mind. Now it is nice to hear “mum, I need to go to the toilet can you please come?” instead of the wailing and crying of years before xx

  4. Emily @ Have a laugh on me Says:

I’m a crappy mumma me thinks after reading this as I didn’t have many of these things! I’ll be sure to share this with my friends with babes. Em x

  5. kerry santillo Says:

Its like a permanent nanny, giving me security and alot less fuss. Knowing my baby is protected everywhere, gotta love that.

  6. Michelle Harrison Says:

With babies underfeet constantly and going in different directions I would love this monitor to keep an eye on the comings and goings of my toddlers

  7. Prue Says:

I constantly have to check if bubs is still breathing, I’m almost at the point of paranoia! It usually ends in bubs being woken up by my ‘not so silent’ sneaking into the nursery (I’m as graceful as an elephant). This would give me peace of mind and I’m sure would result in less “I just wanna check!” Technology can do almost anything these days! Now to work on the tip-toeing…

  8. Karis Murnane Says:

Baby #3 is on the way,
    His older brothers loudly play,
With a baby wemo I’d hear baby wake,
Over the noise his brothers make!
